This incident occured in INDIANAPOLIS. A women returning home late at night after work and going grocery shopping was accosted by three men. One of the the men had a weapon. She defended herself with her own from the front seat of her vehicle. All three ran off after the shot, but one of the men was shot in the shoulder and was later arrested. The other two escaped. Her father suggested she get her CCW License and she is glad she listened. This shows that carrying a concealed firearm can become a great equalizer.

This video/arttcle is a perfect example of why "Situational Awareness" is key to responding quickly and appropriately. Never leave your car to investigate a barricade, even if there are signs of construction. If your car is approached, you should look for points of egress and take the most viable option. This is the most glaring example of why individuals should be able to protect themselves. For the time being, in Illinois, to do this leagally, you must take the prerequisit courses and pay the fees to the state.

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) has reintroduced the 'ATF Elimination ACT'. This legislation would dispand the ATF, handing over their repsonsiblitites to the FBI and DEA. The FBI would then be tasked with guns, explosives and violent crimes, while alcohol and tabacco would be handled by the DEA.

This has been a long time comming. Finally, FOID Card Applications are going digital. The new system should be up by Mid-March and will aid in streamlining the process. Not only that, they are also doing away with the Digital ID process for the CCL, which has been an ongoing issue for a lot of people trying to apply.
Great news for Illinoisans who want to get their FOID Cards! They are going digital Mid-March. Not only that, but they are doing away with the Digital ID process for the CCL that has been an ongoing issue for a lot of people trying to apply.

It's nice to see more and more law abiding citizens getting their Concealed Carry Licneses. I feel that the only way we as law abiding citiznes can affect changes to the law, is to have more individuals who have their license/permit. The prohibitive fees are not the only issue keeping people from choosing to get their permit, the prohibited places portion of the law is as well (430 ILCS 66/65). Not being able to carry concealed in a Cook County Forest Preseve because of alcohol is one (it's illegal to carry concealed and be drunk already), the other is on public transportation. Both of these areas arguably are where a person might need it most. Let us know your thoughts.

We always stress in our classes that you become the nice guy/girl and try to deescalate any altercation when carrying your firearm. If these two individuals had chosen to deescalated the situation, one would still be alive and the other wouldn't be charged with murder. Small arguments can turn deadly in an instance. Remember, the gun you carry is a last resort and should only be used when you have exhausted all other means. In an altercation where you allow yourself to lose control, everyone loses. Stay Safe!
